My first book by Vawn Cassidy was as the Crawshanks Guide to the Recently Departed. That series had humor and the story was great. In this series is where I first met Chan and then Death. She writes great books!!!

The Grim Adventures of Death & Chan, is a series of 4 short stories, this follow Chan and Death from the Dead Serious Series. We meet Death in book 3 of this series and his attraction to Chan was a surprise and I love that we get this short stories.
The first one is Death goes on a Date, both Chan and Death are adorable!! Of course we get to know how Death get to ask Chan on a date and how excited Chan is even if Death isn’t human. I love watching them together and how Death is so cluless about so many things and of course Chan is happy to demonstrate. Get humor and sexy times!

Death goes Shopping. Death would do and go everywhere Chang wants because he wants him happy, it was fun how Chan wants to give him a very human experience. I love them!!

Death goes on Holiday. Death and Chan goes to a little trip together, Spain is their destination and this two on a plane where so much fun!!!

Death gets a Puppy. This was a little sad because how he got the puppy but it was a part of what Death does, they puppy was a new addition and I hope we get to see him later.
Overall the stories were fun and sexy, both Death and Chan have a great chemistry and they are adorable!! So happy to see Chan smile again after he lost Dusty. Looking forward for more of these two!!

**********Contains Spoilers***********

I’m new to Vawn Cassidy’s work and I’m looking forward to reading more. I really enjoyed this collection of shorts in the Grim Adventures of Death & Chan Volume 1, which is set in the Crawshanks Guide to the Recently Departed Series. Each short in this collection has been reviewed separately. Good collection of stories that I couldn’t put down.

Death Goes on a Date - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - I really enjoyed this short and thought that it was a good start to Grim Adventures of Death & Chan Volume 1. I really enjoyed immersing myself in this magical world that Vawn has created. Death’s cluelessness just makes me smile. I think they’re exactly what the other needs and their chemistry is off the charts, even if Death doesn’t really understand what Chan makes him feel as Chan’s special since he’s never felt attraction before. I think Death did an awesome job of organising a wonderful date for him and Chan.

Death Goes Shopping - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️- I really enjoyed this short and thought that it was a good addition to Grim Adventures of Death & Chan Volume 1. I really enjoyed immersing myself in this magical world that Vawn has created. Death’s cluelessness just makes me smile. Oh my gosh Death’s first time in a s*x store and then the dressing room scene when they were in Primark completely cracked me up. I’m glad that Chan is making Death experience what it’s like being a human, so by transporting with magic so they were catching the train, so they found Aidan in his time of need.

Death Goes on Holiday - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️- I really enjoyed this short and thought that it was another good addition to Grim Adventures of Death & Chan Volume 1. I really enjoyed immersing myself in this magical world that Vawn has created. This time around Chan and Death are going away on a cheap holiday to Spain and Death’s antics before and after their arrival cracked me up.

Death Gets a Puppy - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - I enjoyed this short but the reason for the lower rating is due to how short it actually is. I thought that it was a good conclusion to Grim Adventures of Death & Chan Volume 1. I really enjoyed immersing myself in this magical world that Vawn has created. During this short we get to see Death in action while reaping a soul of a wonderful old lady. He was such a sweetheart towards her which was nice to see considering he doesn’t really understand humans but I suppose souls are kind of his thing. The woman’s puppy ends up adopting him, no matter how much he tries to get rid of it but it’s pretty obvious that he’s secretly thrilled even though he pretends otherwise.

I’m looking forward to reading more from this series, as well as more books from Vawn Cassidy in the future. I’d definitely recommend this collection, each short, series and author to everyone.

The Grim Adventures of Death & Chan is 4 short stories set in the Dead Serious Universe. The stories are Death goes on a Date, Death goes Shopping, Death goes on Holiday, and Death gets a Puppy. If you have read Crawshanks Guide to the Recently Departed series you have been introduced to Death and Chan before. This book made me laugh so much. Each story is just fun to read. I love Chan's snarky personality and Death is just so clueless for a being that old. I can't wait to read more stories about these two. I would definitely recommend this book and the Crawshanks Guide to the Recently Departed series.

Where to start! First, I haven't laughed this hard in a very long time. I'm talking tears, snot and not being able to breathe laughter. Second, interspersed with said laughter were moments that were sweet and sassy, happy and sad, as well as comforting and adventurous. Also, steam, there was plenty of heat, but a good balance fitting in with the rest of the stories.

This is a book of four short stories from the Dead Serious Series (aka: Crawshanks Guide to the Recently Departed.) These follow secondary characters from that series Chan and Death and their budding relationship. The stories could probably be read without prior reading of the main series but reading the first three books would help with understanding the characters and world these are based in.

The short stories are:
Death goes on a Date - This was rather cute. The first date and all the first date jitters and experiences, but on a grand scale that only a being like Death could do. This one is a mix of humor and heat. A great first story that has a bit of a timeline overlap with the series.

Death goes Shopping - Sooooo... This is the story that had me laughing hysterically. If you read it you will know. The story is fantastic but has a dose of a real and hard reality towards the end.

Death goes on Holiday - A fun little romp in Spain with plenty of shenanigans before and after arrival.

Death gets a Puppy - This was the shortest story and was very good, though it is a bit melancholy and sad at the beginning. This one had me tearing up, but, not from laughter. It has feels but it also has humor and a realness. It helps the collection be well rounded and feel "full." Also, there is a bit of a fluffy mystery to solve... Who doesn't love a fluffy mystery?

Loved it! I love the whole series! It is funny, emotional and sooo inclusive. I love that Tristan finds friends and a family. I love that you include dementia and down sydrome and also being genderfluid, but it is so subtile and not "a big Deal" or story, it is "there" in the story to be totally normal as it should be! I am looking forward for aaaaalll the other stories you will write :) greetings from germany!

I loved seeing Chan trying to show Death the human side of life. He is always upbeat and so very sweet. It did sadden me when he would think about dying and Death going back to being alone. Will most definitely be one I will re-read.
